Tune In To Your Spirituality
" Spirituality is living with GRADITUDE, compassion, and acceptance" - Jack Kornfield
Hi Friend!
When we become willing to see a world beyond our physical sight, then life becomes easier, we feel safer and we can access our true power.
Spirituality is a beautiful, yet often misunderstood concept. For me, it's about feeling deeply CONNECTED to myself, the world, and something greater. It's been a transformative journey, filled with both pain and profound beauty. The benefits have been countless—from improved health and relationships to enhanced self-esteem and business success. These practices can help you tap into your spiritual side, regardless of your beliefs.
1. Breathe
Our breath is a gift we take with us wherever we go; we always have it, as long as we are alive. The more we take time to breathe from our stomachs, while doing nothing else, the easier it becomes to be a witness to ourselves, others and our lives. And the easier we can access higher spiritual wisdom.
2. Meditation
Commit to meditation as a lifestyle to increase spiritual awareness, clarity of mind, and emotional balance. Over time, with some practice, meditation helps calm the mental storm in your mind. And once the racing thoughts begin to subdue, your intuition becomes clearer.
3. Feel your feelings
One of the aspects of spirituality that tends to get overlooked is the importance of feeling whatever emotions come up. Being spiritual doesn’t mean that you’re unphased by the challenges of being human – quite the opposite. When we acknowledge what we’re feeling, no matter how painful, that’s when the growth takes place.
To CONNECT to your spiritual side, I invite you to tap into the things that are demanding your attention rather than running away from them. Feel them, acknowledge them, and then let them go.
3. Get a daily dose of nature
Spending time in nature helps build your sense of holistic balance and personal growth. Being in nature can reduce stress, boost your energy, and CONNECT with a power higher than your own. There is magnificence, strength, and beauty in nature that it’s humbling. However, you are not separate from it. As the waters and air of the world flow through your body, you are a part of nature, as nature is a part of you. So, take a moment to feel that CONNECTION.
4. Surround yourself in music
Music can speak to you and heal you in ways that no person can ever because it affects your thoughts, emotions, subconscious, and you’re physical well-being. Listening to music can help you CONNECT with your spirituality by CONNECTING with your essence, reaching the deepest part of your soul. Allow music to CONNECT you with your spirituality by listening to music that moves you, participating in a sound bath, or chanting.
5. Listen to your gut
What does your heart really say? How do you really feel? And often, what really aligns with you, may go against your “rules” of spirituality. Don’t be afraid to listen to that voice deep inside and even begin to acts in ways that support it. Give yourself the freedom to experiment and discover your own path.
6. Support your mind and body
This might be the most important one for all aspects of you – as in your overall health and your soul. When you take care of your body by fueling it with healthy foods, drinking plenty of water, exercising (you don’t need me to tell you all of the things that are great to do for your health), and listening to what it needs – you begin to start honoring your body. And in turn, become more GRATEFUL for it. After all, your body is an incredible vessel that allows you to experience everything this life has to offer – so honoring that vessel is one of the most spiritual acts you could do.
7. CONNECT with like-minded people
What’s better than being a spiritual person? Having someone (or a community) to share your spirituality with. Thanks to the Internet, there are a multitude of ways to meet like-minded spiritual folks. This could be through social media (Facebook groups, YouTube channels, Instagram accounts, etc.) or even places within your community. You could go to spiritual shops in your city or look for different spiritual events. The opportunities are endless, and all of these things are great ways to CONNECT with others over shared experiences and feel less alone.
8. Accept the present moment
Learning to be at peace with the present moment is ultimately what spirituality is all about. So much of the time we’re focused on things out of our control, either in the past or future, and it takes us out of what’s happening right in front of us.
9. Do the things that light you up inside
Prioritize making time for things that light you up inside- the things that make you feel most alive and connected to yourself or the world around you. For me, this means spending time with my family, working on my yoga practice, and coaching my incredible clients and students.
10. Appreciate what you have
Having appreciation and GRADITUDE for the things you have, the people around you, and the accomplishments you have achieved in life. Appreciation is not only a quality that is internal, being content with your possession and not always out searching for the new, shiny thing, but also external. A simple smile or hello to your neighbors extends the sense of appreciation and caring unto others. Small actions, multiplied by many, add up!
11. Accept others
Each of us is unique. And each of us is on our own journey. It’s virtually impossible to know what is affecting other people’s priorities, actions, and words. You can judge them based on your personal values and biases, or give them space to be themselves. This does not mean agreeing with everything someone does or trying not to be a guiding voice when needed. It’s about not being confrontational, judgmental, or cruel.
12. Don’t dismiss signs
Signs are so important and so many people write them off as coincidence. It could be a song that keeps replaying or someone’s name that appears, or something that comes to you in a dream. Look for them everywhere.
13. Selflessly Give to Others
When you help another person, it can bring you a great sense of joy just knowing that you made someone else happier. Giving will always increase your spirituality. When you don’t expect anything in return, you’re practicing nothing but kindness. Giving to another person in need can help you feel a greater sense of CONNECTION with the world around you, and you can know that you contributed something positive to it.
14. Practice, practice, practice.
Like everything else in life, spiritual growth is mastered through practice. If you don’t find your answers after your first few steps, take some more in a different direction. It will require time, effort, and energy. But given its influence on our lives, it is always worth the effort in the end.
15. Love
Spiritual wellness and health = LOVE. The more we love ourselves and others and can see the beauty in our circumstances, the more spiritually well we are. The more we focus on spiritual wellness and health, the more love we will feel coursing through our veins.
