Finding Your Voice

"Speak your truth even if your voice shakes"

Hi Friend!

Finding my voice and the courage to use it to share my story is what I now call my “superpower”. I have learned to find the message in my mess and and now I recover out loud and you can too. Through healing, accepting my truth, CONNECTING with people sharing similar experiences, and having an attitude of GRADITUDE, I have been able to change my life- from the darkness to the light.

Prior to finding my voice, I used to have conversations in my head all the time. Usually something like this:

You: Ooooh, that __________ (dance, career, business idea, project, outfit, etc.) looks amazing. I want to try that.

Also You: Are you nuts? That’s so impractical.

That’s too much.
That’s impossible.
That’s weird.
Stay in your lane.
You’re too old/young/inexperienced/washed-up/etc.

Just like that, I would shut myself down. This caused me to reject my own creative impulses and dreams before I even had a chance to explore them. Besides missing out on some potentially life-changing adventures, there’s another more insidious consequence.

I was teaching myself to ignore your inner voice — without even realizing it.

If you can relate- this post is for you-

Your inner voice is that still, small voice within that exists to help guide and direct your life. Your inner voice is wiser, kinder, and more intelligent than the whiny, repetitive, often negative mean-girl voice that blabs constantly in your head.

Connecting Authentic Expression

  • CONNECTION Through Sharing: Sharing our stories and speaking our truths can be a powerful way to CONNECCT with others authentically. When we express ourselves openly and honestly, we invite others to do the same, building bridges of understanding and empathy. This aligns with my focus on cultivating deep CONNECTION as a pathway to well-being

  • Growth Through Authenticity: Finding and using our voices can be a catalyst for personal growth. When we honor our truths and have the courage to express them, we step more fully into who we are meant to be. This act of courage can lead to greater self-awareness, confidence, and a stronger sense of self. This resonates with my mission of empowering individuals to live to their fullest potential.

What Does It Mean to "Find Your Voice"?

It's about:

  • Identifying Your Truth: What are your values? What do you believe in? What matters most to you?

  • Overcoming Fear: Speaking up, especially when it feels risky or vulnerable, can be challenging. It often requires us to confront fears of judgment, rejection, or not being heard.

  • Honoring Your Unique Perspective: Your story, your experiences, and your perspectives are valuable and deserve to be shared.

Steps to Unearth and Express Your Authentic Voice:

  • Self-Reflection: Carve out time for introspection. Journaling, meditation, or quiet reflection can help you CONNECT with your inner thoughts and feelings.

  • Start Small: You don't have to share your deepest truths with the world immediately. Begin by practicing with trusted individuals—a friend, family member, or coach. Having compassionate support can be invaluable during periods of growth and vulnerability.

  • Explore Creative Outlets: Writing, art, music, or other forms of creative expression can provide safe and fulfilling avenues for exploring and sharing your voice.

  • Embrace Imperfection: Don't let the pursuit of perfection hold you back. It's okay if your voice shakes or if your words don't come out exactly as planned. The most important thing is to show up authentically.

There are plenty of ways to discover more about yourself and what you believe in. It's important to be confident in yourself, your thoughts and feelings. This is what makes us all unique in our own way. Finding your voice is a journey, not a destination. It's a process of continual self-discovery, courage, and expression. As you embrace your authentic self and share your story, you'll not only CONNECT with others in a more meaningful way but also inspire those around you to do the same.
